i could not get it to work with the serial port of the raspberry, i had to use a dedicated USB to serial adapter, so yes: it should work.The PZEM-004T together with a HW-655 Relay provide a good clamp-on energy monitor for a 240V clothes dryer.

I am trying to connect a PZEM004T (without display) to a USB port on my PC via a USB-TTL adapter board.module is functioning properly, it can be continued by making a program with Arduino or other microntroller. Please note that metering chip inside of PZEM module is powered from AC side and it has to be on during startup of ESPHome device, othervise measure results won’t be visible.
