About this deal

While the lens is actually a 35mm lens, it performs more like a traditional 50mm because of the APS-C crop.

While this isn’t the best looking lens ever made, once you get past that, it is high quality glass, and one of the best prime lenses that I’ve ever used. The marked aperture ring allows you to get the most out of the Fujifilm user experience, and it’s small enough that you won’t release it’s attached to your camera and hanging around your neck. But, Fujifilm seems to be taking the right step forward with this new design, so you can purchase this lens knowing it will be good for years to come.

If you go onto purchase something through these links, I may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. Alternatively, there is an “A” setting on the ring, which allows the camera to control the aperture instead. If this is about 6" (15cm) on your screen, printing the complete image at this same high magnification would result in a 40 x 60" (100 x 150 cm) print! The lens markings are engraved with precision and filled with white paint, a small point maybe, but one that is a pointer to the quality standards adhered to, as this can be more durable than surface printing.

The lens uses eight seals on the barrel to protect it from rain, dust and splashes of water when shooting outdoors. This is, in fact, a slightly longer than usual standard, which some photographers may find to their liking, especially if they find themselves routinely cropping slightly. Do you think that there is any difference between them in this regard, or is just a matter of light condition and/or exposure differences? Fujifilm has taken the right step forward with this lens design and it also solves all the problems that many of their lenses suffer from, such as very loose aperture rings, no weather sealing, and slow AF. I find it challenging sometimes with “only” my studies and some extra work, but you somehow make it work with a family thrown in as well!

The reason i ask is because i use 27mm with X-T10 and the lens is so noisy and the noise of the lens is capture in video . Especially when shot into sunlit foliage the resulting specular highlights (bokeh-balls®) show no halo effects, no onion rings, no harsh edges. It feels perfectly dampened, just like on the larger lenses like the XF 90mm f/2 and the XF 50-140 f/2. I shoot with an XPro 2 and trying to find the best combination on in-camera settings; this is why I am asking you as I really like your work.

Only in some situations where you want to eliminate veil flaring is it necessary, but even then, veiling flaring is very well controlled. may be tempted to upgrade once they see there’s not a great deal of difference in out-of-focus rendering between f1. It features superb image quality, weather resistance, rounded 9-blade diaphragm and controls chromatic aberration very well. Damn, I wish Fujifilm would update the x100t firmware with newer AF modes and auto macro mode 🙂 Best, Peter (Kgs.When it comes to Street Photography I mostly am comfortable with a wide angle , but the 50mm is actually pretty nice for it.
