Dax’s shoulders were actually the first thing I noticed about him, mostly because I’d sat directly behind him in homeroom, and that first day I was so busy trying to fake the same bored look everyone else was sporting that I could barely focus on anything else.

Liv and Theo fall asleep listening to French rap music every night from their respective beds and ugh you KNOW you could just cut that tension with a knife. Honestly, this goes well for Sunny much longer than I expected, and it definitely sucked for him when he started to have stronger feelings for Cirrus. The first thing I thought was a little off or weird is that the synopsis says she “jumps at the opportunity” to come there and that he explains exactly what’s happening in the postcard, I was a little confused. Theo really grew on me by the end- even though it took some time for me to get past his forwardness 😂.

Much of the story is dedicated to Liv’s father’s documentary about Atlantis, and I was so impressed to see multiple theories about it discussed in detail. And this story made me cry over the pain, loss, and misunderstanding of what once was and what could have been for Olive and her father.Author Jenna Evans Welch's talent for vivid descriptions of gorgeous locations steals the show in this otherwise sweet but predictable, and a bit too long, coming-of-age romance. To me, the best part of the story were facts surrounding Atlantis, that made me feel like I was getting something out of the story, that I've learned something. Her travel experience gives her the confidence to break up with her boyfriend, and she learns that closing herself off to other perspectives means she's missing a full perspective. Fortunately there's also Theo, her dad's incredibly handsome and charming assistant who makes a great buffer between father and daughter, so a lot of awkwardness is avoided while Liv continues to ignore her feelings.
